Dellario wins qualifying trial at Pukekohe Raceway

Unraced three-year-old Dellario (pictured) has won a qualifying trial in a deadheat at Pukekohe Raceway.

Driven by trainer Kyle Marshall, the bay gelding went straight to the lead from an inside draw and then dropped in to take a trail behind Empress of the Sun.

When the leader broke with 400 metres to go, it became a sprint home for the rest and Dellario was finishing strongest at the line to draw level with Aardiebythehill.

Meanwhile, maiden Whooshka came a close second in a workout over 2050m on the right-handed Pukekohe track.

She led for all but at the finish, beaten a neck.
