After a patient drive by trainer Kyle Marshall, youngster Fire Marshall landed a long-odds victory over the 1720m trip at Melton.
Having only his third start, Fire Marshall was allowed to settle back in the field by trainer/driver Kyle Marshall.
The two-year-old colt was in sixth position, one off the fence, when driver Marshall let him take off at the 400m mark.
Going the widest of the field, Fire Marshall accelerated down the straight to pick off the well-backed Coniston on the line.
On the Australian tote, Ruebe Starbuck paid $44.70 for the win and $7.70 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $35.10 and $4.20 at the TAB.
