Hot favourite Smoken Ace glides to finish line for fifth win in unbeaten career

posted in: News

Unbeaten two-year-old Smoken Ace has won his fifth raceday start, taking out a $20,000 event at Melton.

From the widest draw at the mobile, trainer/driver Kyle Marshall let the hot favourite settle in seventh spot, one off the rail.

Marshall was content to take his time before urging Smoken Ace forward with half a lap to go in the 2240-metre event.

Forced to go three, then four, wide for a clear run, Smoken Ace hit the front with 100 metres to go, and effortlessly glided to the line well clear of his nearest rival.

With the win, Smoken Ace took his career earnings to more than $36,000 from his five starts, all of them wins.

Smoken Ace paid $1.10 for the win and $1.04 for the place at the Australian TAB. At the New Zealand TAB, he paid $1.00 for the win and $1.00 for the place.
