Imelda May breaks through for debut win at Alexandra Park

posted in: News

Three-year-old Imelda May has won her first race, taking out the $10,800 Alabar Fillies & Mares Mobile Pace at Auckland’s Alexandra Park.

The race gave Kyle Marshall Racing a double success with Imelda May’s win and Whooshka’s third placing.

Driver Peter Ferguson secured Imelda May a good trail from her inside draw, allowing her to sit behind pacemaker Ronda.

When stablemate Whooshka made a bid for the lead at the turn, Imelda May took the passing lane and won by 3/4 length from fast-finishing Wet Flipflops.

Whooshka, urged along by driver Kyle Marshall, took third place.

The win added $6,600 to Imelda May’s earnings, while Whooshka’s connections benefit by $960 for third.
