A couple of 2-year-olds from Kyle Marshall Racing ran sharp times as they went round Auckland Trotting Club’s trial track at Pukekohe on Saturday January 22.
The pair, Hugo Maguire and Son of Mac, ran a trial over 1609m, with a mile rate of under two minutes. By comparison, the other 2-y-o mile was run at a mile rate of 2-05.3.
Both youngsters were acquired at the national standardbred sales by Kyle Marshall Racing on behalf of owner syndicates last year.
Son of Mac set the pace while Hugo Maguire followed in his trail until the final turn when he went past his stablemate to win by a length on the right-handed track.
