Smoken Ace burns off hotpot to win maiden mile at Shepparton

posted in: News

Smoken Ace has won at his first attempt, upsetting the hotly-backed favourite The Bigboss in a maiden mile at Shepparton (June 16, 2023).

Trainer Kyle Marshall took charge at the start, powering the two-year-old colt to the lead when the favourite blew his start from the inside lane.

Halfway through the race, The Bigboss mounted a big run to take back the lead but Marshall patiently stalked the favourite till they headed down the straight.

Smoken Ace pulled clear to hit the line first, breaking through for his maiden win.

Smoken Ace paid $10.40 for the win and $1.04 for the place at the Australian TAB.
