Son of Mac has scored his first raceday victory, winning by a nose in front of supporters at Cambridge Raceway.
The two-year-old bay colt, from the Kyle Marshall Racing stables, had to overcome a second row draw and driver/trainer Kyle Marshall had to take him wide to get forward early.
But with 400 metres to go, Marshall took the favourite Son of Mac to the lead and he showed great courage in holding on to win from the second favourite, Bolramski.
The win provided connections with $4.950, taking lifetime earnings to more than $7,000 from his three raceday starts.
At the tote, Son of Mac paid $2.00 for the win and $1.50 for the place.
