Well-judged drive by Marshall earns long overdue win for the Major

Six-year-old Suidelike Major has broken through for his first win, thanks to a well-judged drive by Kyle Marshall at Cambridge Raceway.

The gelding was having his 28th start and went into the 2200m Cambridge Homes Mobile Pace with a couple of seconds in his lead-up form.

Starting at odds of $6.50 to win, Marshall urged the Derek Balle-trained Suidelike Major to take the early lead from an inside draw.

Marshall eased the horse into the trail when second favourite Four Kisses pushed ahead to take the lead.

That’s how the order stayed until the leaders turned for home. Marshall then took advantage of Cambridge Raceway’s passing lane and took the lead as the line approached, winning by a neck in 2-43.6.

The win added $4,400 to Suidelike Major’s earnings, taking his lifetime earnings to almost $16,000.
