Bach has charged home for his 13th career win, taking out a $24,000 feature at Melton in race record time.

The five-year-old gelding took out the opening event at the Saturday night meeting, with a well-paced run from driver Chris Alford.

From the mobile start, Alford dropped Bach in behind leader Yambuklan, making the most of the trail and waiting for his chance when the field turned for home.

Alford switched Bach to the sprint lane and timed his run to the line to perfection, with a mile rate of 1:51.7.

It was Bach’s fifth win from six starts at Melton, since leaving New Zealand for the Australian tracks.

The win took his career earnings to more than A$155,000, from 36 starts.
