Marshall lands first winner with maiden Wharewhiti after move to Victoria

posted in: News

Kyle Marshall has trained and driven his first winner since moving from New Zealand to Australia after 5-year-old gelding Wharewhiti powered home to win a maiden mile race at Shepparton.

Drawn 8, Marshall dropped Wharewhiti behind the leading bunch and patiently took a sit one out and four back.

With half a lap to go, he took Wharewhiti three wide, confidently striding past the co-leaders, and then took control in the run to the line.

Wharewhiti paid $1.60 for the win and $1.04 for the place at the Australian TAB.
