Sparingly raced five-year-old Wharewhiti has taken the next step in his preparation with a five-length win at the Cambridge workouts.
Driven by Sophie Jefferies, the bay gelding had to work to get from four at the mobile barrier and take the lead.
From there, Wharewhiti was always in control, driving through the wet track and finishing well ahead.
The Roger Villiger-trained Boris Yelsin, driven by Kyle Marshall, came home well to take second.
Wharewhiti has not raced since February 2022 and has yet to break through for his first win, having had four career starts.
