Fast-finishing Bach storms home for second win in Australia

posted in: News

A patient drive by Chris Alford helped hot favourite Bach register his second win on Australian soil with a blistering finish at Melton.

The hot pot started on the second row and had no luck when the field settled, getting pushed back to third on the fence.

The five-year-old gelding stayed in sixth spot until the field turned for home and Alford went for the sprint lane, darting along the inside with an impressive turn of speed.

Bach got to the line first to the relief of punters who had sent him out odds-on favourite in the $17,500 event.

The win took Bach’s career record to 10 wins from his 32 starts, and gave him his second victory in Australia since moving from New Zealand in late 2023.

On the Australian tote, Bach paid $1.60 for the win and $1.10 for the place. In New Zealand, Kyle Marshall Racing supporters earned $1.90 and $1.30 at the TAB.
