Son Of Mac aiming to lead older rivals on a merry chase at Melton

posted in: News

Son Of Mac will aim to land his fourth win in Australia when he takes on a field of older horses at Melton on Friday night (July 28).

The promising three-year-old faces a field of five geldings, all between six and 11 years old.

But the Kyle Marshall Racing-trained colt is expected to lead them a merry chase.

Son Of Mac has won his last two starts at Melton, showing a liking for the track, and he’s drawn 2 at the mobile barrier, going over the same 2240m course that’s provided his past wins.

Son Of Mac, the winner of about $95,000 from 14 raceday starts, arrived at his new Cranbourne stable with a solid reputation after running second in the Group 1 Northern Derby at Auckland’s Alexandra Park in March.

He’s now amassed a race record of six wins and three placings.
